Jan 08, 2011· As for your box lid question i typed out some instructions on how i did it on one of my cakes. Some people use cake as the lid and cover it as mentioned, since you're doing little boxes i would probably do it with gumpaste as i explain in this thread. Mini cakes are hard enough, i wouldn't do a smaller one for the lid.
Tape one layer of plastic on the base of the box underneath the lid. You only need to tape down one side of the plastic. Leave the opposite side open so you can insert the pie pan later. Tape another layer of plastic across the top of the box, covering the hole you cut out, right underneath the foil-lined flap.
